A very simple yet eloquent depiction describing Barack's feelings on government and the role it plays in everyday life.
rbr,
I agree. I can't get over all of the details that a picture taken from a phone can capture. Simply astonishing considering that just a few years ago one couldn't even fathom taking a picture from a phone. Never mind the fact of being able to post it to the internet as well...
A picture tells a thousand words...sometimes even more. In this case, CHANGE is coming. HOpefully when it does, the economy will get better.
We have had eight long years of mistrust, and it has changed some of the populace. Expectations of the governement have shifted, and now with a new administration with a 180 degree turn around, we can start to see how well it can support us. Instead of serving a number of special interests, it can serve our interests.
What I have found fascinating about the President is his ability to deliver a message that has different meanings to different people, yet the same message. As an example: Promote the general welfare of the people. How you understand that statement says a lot about you as an individual and your beliefs about rights and responsibilities.
Some people have lost trust in the government and the economy has fueled these types of feelings. Politicians must remember that it is important to enhance the well being of individuals and not harm them through poor decision making.
On this website, in the "Love vs Anger" video, Michael Pritchard is talking with kids about their feelings of grief, fear, and anger concerning bullying and gang killings. The administrator in that video said it takes 3-5 years to change a school culture. I wonder if it takes longer to change a country's social structure because of its size and/or because belief systems of adults are that much more ingrained. Yes, we are moving forward, but how long will it take to see true change?
When all fails in government, it our responsibility as citizens to vote for change or seek office ourselves.
